It seems like forever since we have had a Pro-Gas race, and frankly due to the scorching temperatures lately, we chose our schedule wisely. I wanted to touch base with everyone to tell you now that our next race, October 24th will now be the:
Marcum Bros. Memorial
Pak-Rat Nationals presented by
K&N & Lucas Oil.
As all of you know we just recently lost our good friend and one of the patriarchs to Southern California Pro-Gas, as well as the 1981 series champion.
Steph Marcum along with Martha & Gina Marcum, Ronnie & Randy's sister have started a foundation, and you can look at the website: www.marcumbrothers.com . This is a non-profit organization designed to supporting the racers and their families for other memorial races, banquets, bar-b-ques, along with supporting Ronnie's youngest daughter Julia to help her continue in Jr. Drag racing as well. Please check out the website, and support our fallen friend.
With that being said, with the help of K&N & Lucas Oil (These folks are great sponsors) This will be a double sponsored race. Meaning that this one race will be $2,000 to win!!!!!! and $1,000 to the runner-up!! The purse will be fattened up all the way down, starting with 2nd round winners. This is a must attend race, and I would like to encourage you folks from Northern California, Arizona, Nevada to come over for this great weekend in remembering an old friend and racing for $2,000 (with all of the contingencies, you can win $3,000).
Mr Danny Broguiere approached me about having a catered dinner (not sure if it will be a BBQ or something else) this man was close to the Marcum Brothers and out of his generosity will be putting on this dinner for everyone in Pro-Gas. The details still need to worked out, and I will pass them along as more info becomes available. If you are coming to the Las Vegas National event, please come down a weekend early and support this deal. I assure you that you will have a good time both on the race track, and off. You will have an opportunity to tell an old Ronnie & Randy story if you'd like. If you haven't raced much this year, please do not miss this race.
The day after the Marcum Memorial race (October 25th), we'll be having the Wayne & Dave's Automotive Pro-Gas Finals presented by Mike's Transmissions. We will have our annual shoot-out on Sunday morning as well. So we will have two days of 9.90 action, so come one, come all. If you have any questions I will try my best to answer them.
