Ray's Notes

Let me start out by thanking everyone for their co-operation during a very frustrating weekend. We had 72 cars at our 3rd race of the season sponsored by, Chuck’s Automotive and H & H Parts Warehouse. A special thanks to Joe Ghyselinck, not only for helping sponsor the race but also for all his help during the race.  What some of you may not know is that Joe was also trying to set a new national record at the sand drags and was shuffling between that race and ours. Thanks to Carl & Judy Jennings of RVPO RV Parts Outlet for sponsoring the race trophy and also the $100.00 for the #1 Qualifier.

Congratulation to Mike Blodgett, (Syd’s Papa) for winning the race, he not only had great lights but also raced the finish line perfectly. Great job Mike! Also congratulations to Val Torres, Jr, he also had good lights and did a great job at the finish line (I ought to know as he beat me twice this weekend).

I am real sorry for the guys that got hung out at the tree, especially Jimmy Lintz. It unfortunately happened to him both days. I’m also sorry for the guys that couldn’t get down the track I know it happened to a few of you.

Congrats to Andy MacDougal our #1 Qualifier, he took the $100.00 sponsored by Carl and Judy of RVPO RV Parts Outlet. Saturday night Andy had the heads off the motor and came out the next morning and qualified #1 with a 9.902(great job Laura).

PJ Giacalone also ran a 9.902 but unfortunately for him it was after Andy. For his efforts he was awarded his own sponsored, “The you just missed it” Award.  Our top 16 qualifiers all ran 9.90’s. Also congrats to our own Pete Kinney for his S\Street win.

Randy Marcum did a great job with Joe Ghyselinck’s roadster, he not only went 5 rounds but also picked up the $200.00 Bulls-Eye Award sponsored by Tim & Donna Daniel, Randy Bowers and Jim Sowards for beating our points leader, Chris Newman in the 4th round.

It was good to see Rich Okerman at the race he looks great after all he’s been through. Nancy has been taking good care of him! It was also good to have Larry Scarth back racing with us so soon after his surgery, he also looks great.

I need to thank Robin, Sharon and Kitty for all their help at this race, we were short handed and I know you all had double duty. Also, thanks to Judy Jennings for helping out at registration and to Dave Fargo for taking care of the points for us. Our next race will be June 5th at Fontana, the gates will open at 12:00pm and we will start racing at 2:00pm.  Sunday gates open at 8:00am and start running at 9:00am.  Hope to see you all there.
