Ray's Notes We had 79 cars enter the “Russ Harris Memorial Race”, sponsored by Cheryl Harris and Les & Jeanette Harris. For those of you who never got a chance to know Russ, he was a great guy who really enjoyed racing with his son Bobby. He was also a stout supporter of Pro Gas. Thank you again Cheryl, Les and Jeanette for sponsoring the race again this year. Also, thanks to Kari & PJ for sponsoring the winner’s trophy. This was our 4th race of the year and our 2nd at Fontana. Congratulations to Jed & Sue Bourquin for winning the race. Jed, I wish you could’ve seen Sue when your win light came on, I think she’s ready for the NBA. Also, congratulations to Mike Blodgett, Sr. (Syd’s Papa) for his runner-up finish. Mike won our last race in Bakersfield, he is on a streak, and I hear he’s even getting ready to sign up for “Hula” lessons. Congrats to Larry Scarth for going to the semi’s and thanks again for the extra $1000.00 to the winner and $500.00 to the runner-up of this race. Larry will also be paying the extra money at our Fontana race August 14th. Paul Wiechmann was on a roll, not only was he our #1 qualifier and collected the $100.00 from Val Torres Construction but he also won the S\St race on Sunday, Congrats Paul. Also Gary Mignacca will collect the Bulls-Eye money of $100.00, sponsored by Tim & Donna Daniel, Jim Sowards and Randy Bowers for taking out our point’s leader Chris Newman. As some of you know it took me 6 1\2 hrs to get to this race. We had a water leak on our motorhome and had to turn around and go back home to change the water pump. Thanks to everyone who helped with registration and track prep before we got there. Our next race will be June 27th at LACR; it will be sponsored by Meziere Enterprises. They are also supporting S\St on Saturday and they are putting on their famous “Meziere BBQ” Saturday, so bring your appetite. It’s not only great food but also a great time to relax and share stories with friends. I’ve also been told that Bernie has repaved the track from the end of the concrete to past the finish line and that it is as smoooooooooooth as can be. Hope to see you all there. Race Safe |
