Ray's Notes We had 70 cars enter our 5th race of the season. It was sponsored by Product Engineering; this is their 2nd year as a race sponsor for SCPG. We would like to thank John Rademacher for his continued support. Be sure to give John a call when in need of any their great products. Besides sponsoring the #1 Qualifier and R\U plaques all year, Joe Roubicek was the trophy sponsor for this race. Thanks again Joe for all you do for SCPG, we all appreciate it. Congratulations to the Newman Clan for winning the race. Wayne won it with a perfect .400 light in the final round thanks to Chris putting .002 more in the delay box. This win also makes Wayne our new point’s leader. Also, Congrats to Jimmy “G” Galante for his 1st R\U finish in SCPG. This was truly a great outing for Jimmy. I’m glad Tana and Megan were there to share in the celebration. Our #1 Qualifier was Anthony Galati; he won $100.00 from Martin Vasquez and a $25.00 certificate from CL Bryant. Anthony ran a perfect 9.900 in the 1st qualifying round. Audrey Israel also ran a perfect 9.900 and was our #2 qualifier. She won $25.00 and a “The You Just Missed It” award from Paul and Jack Giacalone and Pizazz Racing. Carl Jennings won $30.00 from Ken “Racer” Brown of Brown’s Transmission and Repair, for being our #5 qualifier. Carl ran a 9.902. We had 21 cars qualify with 9.90’s; that goes to show how tuff our racers really are. Wendell Wojdak will get $25.00 from Jim Sowards for winning the Turtle award with a .689 light in the first round. We would like to thank K&N Filters, Mike’s Transmission, Hughes Performance and CL Bryant for their continued support. Remember to support the sponsors that support us. We do not want to forget to thank Les and Jeanette Harris for there generous trip to Maui for the SCPG Champion again this year. The lead has changed several times so far, everyone wants to go to Hawaii. Thanks again, Les and Jeanette. I would like to thank Robin Boner for helping out with registration and Dave Fargo for doing the Points for us. I especially want to thank Kitty for all she did for us at this race. Other than registration she handled everything else all by herself. It’s a lot of work for one person to do and I want her to know how much she’s appreciated. Without the women of SCPG these races would not happen. Our next race will be our “Russ Harris Memorial Race”, on August 20th at Fontana. Hope to see you there. Race Safe, P.S. The Northern California Pro Gas Association is a having a race on Labor weekend in Fallon. They will be racing Saturday and Sunday with at least $1000.00 each day to win. All the Super categories will be running at this race. |
