Ray's Notes

We had 68 cars enter the rescheduled race #2 sponsored by Team Smooth and Perma-Coil. Joe Roubicek of Team Smooth and Bob Duncan of Perma-Coil have been sponsoring one of our races for a long time and we really appreciate what they do for us so don’t forget to say Thank you the next time you see them.

Congratulations to Dan Beresford for winning the race and to Mike Boner for another (his 8th) runner-up finish. Beresford and Boner are very tough competitors.

Thanks to Jim Sowards for sponsoring the race trophy and the $100.00 for the #1 Qualifier, Wayne Newman. Joe Roubicek once again was the #1 Qualifier plaque and runner- up trophy sponsor. Rick Webb collected $25.00 for being our #2 qualifier from Paul and Jack Giacalone of Pizazz Racing. John Matassa collected $30.00 from Ken “Racer” Brown of Brown’s Transmission & Repair. The $25.00 Turtle award sponsored by Jim Sowards will go to Alan Hoefer for his .256 winning light in round #2 when Val Torres, Jr. went red by .001. Our Bulls-Eye award of $100.00 from Dave Calvert of CP Pistons will go to Phil Miller for taking out our new points leader at the time Jim Sowards. Our next race Bulls-Eye will be on Jim Israel as he took over the points lead by 101 points over Jim Sowards.

Our next race will be a Memorial race for Randy Marcum sponsored by R.G. Industries on June 3rd at the new track at Fontana. They will be open Friday at noon for anyone who would like to come early. They will hold us in the parking lot until Saturday morning. Gates will open at 7 am on Saturday and we start running at 9 am.

P.S. N.H.R.A. has decided to allow a grade point at Division 7 National Opens. So you can get a grade point at the Las Vegas National Open in June and at the Palmdale’s National Open either in September or October.
